The Fun Of Poker Runs

This last weekend some friends from one of the social sites and I went on this Poker Run of course it was to raise money and awareness. I will explain later on what it was for but first I want to tell everyone else about the fun we had before I go in to the details of why and for what association.
The ride was sponsored by the social club Biker Knights and they did a fine job of  putting it together. We started out at the base of the Rocky Mountains and rode Peak to Peak along some of the best scenic routes in the Rockies. Well, wouldn't you know I did not take any pictures of the great views but I did get some real good pictures of the bikes and people.
Along the ride we stopped at just about every hole in the wall bar on the route to draw a card and of course all my cards were complete junk. I am not a lucky gambling man by any means! I did not feel to bad because out of the group I was with not any of us had real good hands but we still had a blast any way!
The road way was full of corners just about the whole way and this made it real fun on the bikes but hard to look at the fantastic scenery along the route, not unless you were sitting on the back of someones bike taking in all of the views.

When I was getting ready to leave the house that morning my Grandson wanted to go with me on the ride so I told him the Mountain roads were to curvy for him to go this time, he loves to ride already! He wanted to take this picture so I would remember him when he went back home to LA. Like I would forget him or something?

Back to the ride, this was the second time I had rode with one couple and they are just so much fun to be around! I was able to meet two other couples and two single guys that I had never scene in person just knew them from the social site. The social site is a great way to hook up for rides and meet new people. Here is a few pictures of the people.

Now lets get on to the bikes! I was impressed with the crowd of people whom came out to do this poker run and the many different motorcycles that came with them. I am so use to seeing mostly Harley's at the Poker Runs I go to but this time there was not only Harley's but just about every kind of motorcycle on this ride. I am sure the difference in the kind of jobs these people have was probably everything from a school teacher to Lawyers and Doctors on this ride to go along with these bikes.

I believe this Poker Run just made there fifth year doing this ride so maybe that is why the turn out was good. I told you early on that I would explain what this ride was all about later and later has finally come. The American Biker Knights along with the AMSI which stands for Accident Scene Management, Inc. puts this ride on to get more bikers involved in first response on the scene awareness and what to do to help save the life of a fellow biker. The chances of you or a close friend going down or being involved in a motorcycle wreck is high by the National Highway Traffic Administration. ANSI puts on classes that you can take all over the United States so check the area you live in for a office near you and take this course for you and your buds.

You would not want to mess up something like this if it was in a wreck, now would you?
